01
The product
GridSight is a dark-mode-first desktop application for grid operators. It provides a network topology view, assets, analysis, alerts and reports. The public repository ships with a mock telemetry dataset.
02
The problem
Operator tools often end up as two codebases, one for web and one for desktop, and they drift apart. GridSight keeps a single UI and lets the runtime decide which capabilities are available.

My role
Independent project2026
- Designed and built the application end to end.
04
Engineering approach
- 01A repository pattern switches between a browser data source and an Electron data source, depending on whether the secure contextBridge API is present.
- 02In Electron the app reads local datasets, sends OS notifications and draws its own window controls in a frameless window.
05
Key decisions
One UI, two runtimes
Runtime detection, not separate builds, decides capabilities, so features ship to web and desktop together.
Secure IPC boundary
The renderer never touches Node directly. Everything goes through a narrow, typed preload bridge.

07
Outcome
- Source available on GitHub. The proprietary telemetry backend is not included.
