The product

NUESA UNIJOS is the platform for the University of Jos chapter of the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students' Association. It has a public website, separate student and alumni sign-up paths, an Engineering Hub (CGPA calculator, Engineering Library, academic resources), an alumni portal and an administration console.

The problem

Student associations usually run on scattered group chats and short-lived pages. The chapter needed one durable, credible home that it can administer itself, where records such as CGPA history and library resources persist across academic years.

My role

Full-Stack Engineer2026

• Architected and built the full stack: a Next.js App Router frontend, a FastAPI backend and a PostgreSQL schema.
• Implemented authentication, role-based access control and admin tooling.
• Created the custom typography and brand system, and wrote tests on both sides (Pytest, Vitest).

Engineering approach

1. 01The browser only talks to the Next.js origin. A catch-all route handler forwards /api/v1/* to FastAPI inside the Docker network.
2. 02FastAPI owns all authentication and authorisation. The frontend uses the current user only to decide what to show, never what is allowed.
3. 03The schema changes only through Alembic migrations. The backend uses async SQLAlchemy 2.0, Argon2 password hashing and JWTs.
