01
The product
Qataloog describes itself as a curriculum-aligned content distribution engine for institutions. Schools, publishers and lecturers deliver textbooks, lecture notes and videos to students. The content is protected by streaming-only access, copy and screen-recording blocks and screenshot masking. The platform also runs secure online exams with identity verification and AI-assisted live proctoring, gives usage analytics on what students read, watch and skip, and ships desktop apps for macOS and Windows.
02
The problem
Institutions need affordable, curriculum-relevant material that students actually use, and assessments that stay credible when they move online. Publishers need distribution that does not leak their content.
03
My role
Frontend Developer (Contract)May 2024 – Sep 2024
- Built core frontend features in React for the e-learning platform, which served about 2,000 students and faculty across 30 courses and programmes during my contract (CV).
- Worked directly with the founding team on scope and priorities.
- Built an admin console demo covering users, admins, coupon codes, academic levels, platforms, countries, content types and withdrawals. Its source is public on my GitHub.
04
Engineering approach
- 01The admin modules are structured around the platform's catalogue model (academic levels, platforms, countries and content types), so content is organised the way institutions already think about it.
05
Key decisions
Model the catalogue, not the page
The admin UI mirrors the content taxonomy, so adding a new country or academic level is a data change, not a code change.
06
Technologies
- React
- JavaScript
- REST APIs
07
Outcome
- Platform served about 2,000 students and faculty across 30 courses and programmes during my contract (CV).
- Qataloog is live at qataloog.com. The product facts above come from its public site; the platform today is the company's work beyond my contract.
